What do you get when you combine one of the pole positions for wildlife viewing in all of Africa, with the sentiment of a 1920s explorer style safari camp? A camp that is truly one of the most exciting to arrive, unpack and settle into, and equally one that is hardest to leave…

One of the most sought after properties in Tanzania, Sabora Tented Camp is now reserving its place as one of the top 20 hotels to visit in the world this year, recommended by Conde Nast Traveller’s Gold List 2017.

Located within a 350,000 acre private reserve, expect an above-average level of luxury from cosy canvas rooms with the most exquisite linens and ornate artifacts, to vintage, award winning wine cellars, world class pastry chefs and live-in sommeliers.

Here you have the richest African wilderness experience - remote, authentic and atmospheric. This is the real deal, the ultimate throwback to the way safaris were once conducted.

Days are spent exploring the Grumeti plains with your guide and vehicle, or skip an afternoon expedition and replace with a gentle outdoor siesta on your day bed. Visit one of the 21 local villages located on the fringes of the reserve and learn about Singita’s partnerships with these communities as they make every effort to empower, develop and uplift.

There is also the chance to explore the surrounds on foot with your field guide, something that we always encourage our guests to participate in as there really is nothing else quite like it! Try your hand at archery, or indulge in a holistic massage treatment to get the lymph system flowing.

With a fully equipped gym, perfectly laid out under the shade of elegant canvas, this is a retreat for the modern day traveller, the comforts of daily life need not be forgotten and one can sweat out the delicious cuisine consumed the previous evening whilst watching the sun rise across the planes of the Serengeti…

Or while enjoying a game of doubles followed by an icy Pimms, on the camps open air tennis court. Nothing has been overlooked and it is entirely up to you as to how you choose to spend your time.

Of course being in the Grumeti area, a large pull is the proximity to the herds of zebra and the two million plus migrating wildebeest and that pass through this area between June and July. Aside from this incredible phenomena, the general wildlife is simply out of this world, with seventy odd sightings of lion in a month alone, recently…

Experiencing a stay at Singita Sabora is the ultimate treat, it cannot be compared to most hotels, it is in a league of its own entirely. Falling asleep to the sounds of nocturnal wildlife, the shrieking of opportunistic hyena permeating the night air, is something that you just cannot begin to imagine and can only know by going, and experiencing first-hand.
