Central India – that rugged heart of the country encompassing most of the states of Madhya Pradesh and Eastern Maharashtra – are amongst the best places to see tigers in India. The Explorations Company have pioneered wildlife tourism in two tiger reserves – Pench and Satpura; and have been involved in conservation and research work in Bandhavgarh over many years.
This background gives us detailed and up to date insights into the best places, the best time of year, the best guides, other attractions around the various parks and how to use this knowledge to match the individual requirements and expectations of our clients with the range of experiences available. We simply do not do one size fits all programmes.
Kanha is one of the great tiger reserves of India with highly visible tigers and is also home to the rare and endangered hard-hoofed swamp deer. We use two widely separated boutique lodges offering different experiences and you can uniquely do a multi-day cycle trip through the buffer zone.
Bandhavgarh has some lavishly luxurious lodges but for the true aficionado and photographer we use a small and simple lodge owned by a husband and wife team of artist and photographer; Tadoba is one of the great new tiger watching parks and you can stay at a lodge with an exclusive entrance to the park or leave the crowds behind in Pench to use a small and pretty camp at the northern end where only 5 jeeps are allowed in an untrammelled area. And then there is Satpura – a tiger park where tigers are not easy to see and yet considered by many as offering the finest wildlife experience in tiger country.
