Namibia is a truly wonderful country in which to take a family on holiday! One of the main reasons is that it offers so much variety – which is the key to any successful holiday! In fact, whilst one can see the wildlife in Etosha, Namibia is better known for its beauty, its rugged scenery, its deserts and the wonderful things one can do on the coast. A family holiday in Namibia really does offer something for everyone.
Firstly, there’s private camping with your own private guide and vehicle. This is our first choice every time – Namibia camping safaris with family are fabulous! Our guides are the best in Namibia and very good with children, having their own children themselves! Here one may experience a real sense of adventure whilst exploring the Damaraland/Kaokoland regions and searching for desert-dwelling rhino and elephant. Sleep out on your roof in a comfortable, warm bed-roll beneath the stars in a lodge in this region or in the Namib Desert – the night sky is unsurpassed in the desert, with no light pollution!
Game-view in Etosha – there is even a lit waterhole where one can view animals drift in and out in their quest for water whilst on your family holiday in Namibia. Quad-bike in the Namib desert or on the Angolan border, where you can go out by boat as well to this gorgeous region. Visit the Ova Himba tribe and learn about their culture.
In Swakopmund, one can stay at a quirky place that overlooks the sea and take a desert 4x4 tour with one of the best guides – especially for children. He brings to life every aspect of the desert – from the fascinating insects, chameleons, geckoes, and sidewinder snakes, to anything that he finds and takes delight in sharing with you. This is both a seriously fun and educational trip! You can also go sand-boarding and quad-biking here. Go camel-trekking or horse-riding (there are short rides and dedicated rides). Visit the Cape Cross seal colony and take a boat trip out to see dolphins and penguins.
Explore the Fish River Canyon, where one can go on Namibia camping safaris with the family for around three nights. See habituated cheetah and spend time with them at a charitable project that has been formed to safeguard the last cheetah and leopard in the country.
