The Journey

The bright lights of Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires
Begin in Argentina’s cosmopolitan capital, Buenos Aires. Let us show you the rich contrasts of this passion-filled city, from exploring the city’s vibrant food and art scenes to enjoying front row seats to Rojo Tango, the hottest tango show in town.
To get you in the mood for what’s ahead, we’ve also included a visit to the superb Bernardino Rivadavia Museum of Natural Science, one of Latin America’s top natural history museums, which houses many of the country’s most important dinosaur finds.
(Re)wild at heart
El Impenetrable National Park
Fly to Corrientes, where your private air safari begins. First off is El Impenetrable National Park in the Argentine Chaco. This newly designated–and rather aptly named–national park now protects some of South America’s most pristine remaining dry forest and a wealth of rare wildlife from tapir and maned wolf to puma, black howler monkey and giant anteater.
You’ll stay in a tented river camp, and with expert private guides head out each day into the forest by safari jeep and on foot, or explore its rivers by kayak and motor boat, as you look for the park’s charismatic wildlife. If you like, we can also include a horseback safari with a local gaucho who will be happy to share his tales of life in Argentina’s frontier regions; or take you to meet some of the region’s indigenous communities whose craft-making skills are simply out of this world.

Into the Ibera
Ibera Wetlands
Fly by light plane directly to the grass airstrip at Estancia Rincon del Socorro in the Ibera Wetlands. This charming lodge offers profoundly immersive wildlife experiences in one of South America’s most biodiverse regions.
Explore the vast lagoons, grasslands and forest islands with your expert private guide by 4×4 vehicle, boat, kayak, on foot and on horseback, looking for iconic wildlife like capybara, marsh deer, howler monkey and caiman. As night falls, nocturnal safaris reveal foxes, owls, armadillos, and dazzling starry skies. Back at the estancia, unwind by the pool or over a traditional Argentine asado barbecue with a glass or two of the local Malbec amid the natural beauty of your surroundings.

Big water in the jungle
Iguazu Falls
Fly by chartered light plane to the jungles of Misiones, where the mighty Iguazu Falls await. Staying at world-class Awasi Iguazu, you may well find yourself, speeding beneath the falls in a jetboat or circling above in a helicopter, agreeing with Eleanor Roosevelt who, when visiting, commented ‘Poor Niagara!’
Impressive as these jungle falls are, there’s even more to see in the Atlantic rainforest of Misiones, where you’ll head out with scientists on jungle patrol (the birding here is simply world-class) and visit local Guarani Indian communities. It’s a fitting way to finish your wildlife adventure in Argentina.
Where you'll stay
Great journeys need great places to lay your head. These are our tried and tested suggestions.

Legado Mitico
Just moments from the chic boutiques, galleries, and restaurants of leafy Palermo Soho, Legado Mitico Buenos Aires is a wonderfully civilised boutique hotel with a strong Argentinian identity. Its 11 art-filled rooms, inspired by cultural icons like Eva Peron and Che Guevara, and styled in warm wood and leather, create an intimate and sophisticated ambience. With its peaceful courtyard, well-stocked library and excellent service, Legado Mitico is a smart urban retreat for culturally curious travellers.

Los Palmares Tented Camp
Situated in riverine gallery forest along the Bermejo River in the Argentine Chaco, Los Palmares is one of South America’s most pioneering ecotourism projects, providing comfortable access to the remote and aptly named El Impenetrable National Park – a sanctuary for jaguars, tapirs, giant anteaters and river otters. The camp consists of a dining tent and large fixed African-style tents elevated on platforms that overlook the river, and stays here include delicious meals and a range of safari activities from kayaking to bush walks.

Estancia Rincon del Socorro
Estancia Rincon del Socorro, in Argentina’s Ibera Wetlands, is not just a luxury ecolodge but a testament to the visionary conservation work of Doug and Kris Tompkins. This former cattle ranch has now been transformed into a reserve aimed at restoring the wetlands’ incredible wildlife from jaguars and giant river otters to 400 bird species. After a day out with the gauchos, on an expertly guided 4×4 safari, horseback ride or boat tour, return to great food and hospitality, knowing your stay supports the vital and ongoing rewilding work.

Awasi Iguazu
Awasi Iguazu offers a luxurious and deeply immersive experience in the Misiones rainforest, minutes from the iconic Iguazu Falls. Each private villa blends seamlessly with its lush surroundings, and comes with a personal guide and 4WD vehicle, allowing you to explore at your own pace. Beyond its Relais & Chateaux opulence, Awasi Iguazu is committed to conservation and community regeneration through its foundation. Each stay allows you to connect deeply with the land while supporting its preservation for future generations.
