For centuries the island was under colonial rule, originally discovered by Arab sailors in the Middle Ages who stopped over whilst navigating the old Spice Route that connected Europe with the East. Given that the island was colonised by the Dutch, French and British in succession between 1638 and 1968, during this period the island developed its unique Creole culture with a blend of African, Asian, and European influences. Across Mauritius, these cultural and historic influences can still be evidenced in the island’s exciting range of music, delicious Creole cuisine and distinctive colonial architecture. You will feel very welcome thanks to the warm hospitality of the local people, and languages spoken here include Urdu, Hindi, English, French and Spanish.

"Each area of the island has much to offer with the sheer diversity of terrain, lush locations to explore and endemic wildlife."

Home to luxurious five-star resorts, unspoilt beaches, private villas and a range of exhilarating water sports, alongside outstanding golf courses and tranquil spa retreats, Mauritius is a world-class tropical island destination. Each area of the island has much to offer with the sheer diversity of terrain, lush locations to explore and endemic wildlife. Head north to the unspoiled coastline that stretches from Pointe aux Piments to Grand Gaube. Here you can enjoy tropical beaches under the shade of Casuarina trees and a range of local activities from water sports to strolling through Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, or take a trip to the local markets for a taste of authentic street food. In Grand Baie, you can find an eclectic mix of restaurants, shops and original markets selling everything from colourful pashminas to jewellery and spices.

If you can find a way to leave the magnificent northern beaches, further south the rugged coastline and mountain gorges will not disappoint. Explore the dense forest and diverse wildlife on display at Black Rivers National Park, the largest national park in Mauritius. Elsewhere, the clear waters and unique coral seascape of the protected marine reserve at Blue Bay Marine Park offer a captivating experience. Or take a trip to the island’s sugar plantations that offer a glimpse into its lengthy colonial history whilst visiting Le Morne.

With our extensive knowledge and contacts across the island, we can elevate your experience further: take a private sailing trip around the glistening south coast by speedboat or catamaran,  stopping by the turquoise lagoons of Ile aux Cerfs and the island of Ile aux Aigrettes to visit the nature reserve and scientific research station. Allow a local guide to accompany you during a hike along extraordinary island forest trails that reveal mesmerising waterfalls. Take a thrilling swim with dolphins along the warm waters of the west coast, or try a selection of teas whilst exploring the Tea Route and enjoy panoramic views overlooking the south of the island.

Scattered across the island there is a collection of chic boutique hotels, sprawling private villas and internationally renowned hotels from the Four Seasons to Oberoi. Having travelled extensively in Mauritius, we can navigate the diverse range of accommodation and activities available.

From discovering beauty spots such as the Seven Coloured Earth and Waterfalls of Chamarel to indulging in a champagne dinner on the beach at sunset before retreating to your secluded beach hideaway, we will match the tropical beauty of the islands with the exceptional service we are known for.
