Marla Smith has spent her 30-year career as an investment banking professional, private equity investor, real estate developer and dedicated Board Member of select corporate, civic and philanthropic organizations.
Marla served as Managing Director of The Fidelco Group for 23 years. Prior to joining Fidelco, Marla was a Senior Vice President in the Corporate Finance Department at Paine Webber, Inc. where she specialized in Project Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions. In early 2013, Marla retired from Fidelco to become the President of the Board of Trustees of the Boys and Girls Club of Newark (“BGCN”) where she had been serving as a Trustee for the prior six years.
Among other philanthropic and civic roles, she has served as a Trustee of Friends of Hudson River Park and as a member of its strategic planning committee; as Commissioner of the New Jersey Urban Enterprise Zone Authority; as Chair of the Board of Trustees of ‘goods for good’, now known as Yamba Malawi; as Vice Chair of the Newark Police Foundation; and as Trustee and Treasurer of Opportunity Project, Inc., a charity benefitting adults who have sustained brain injuries. Marla has been recognized in NJBIZ magazine’s “Top 50 Women in Business,” Real Estate New Jersey’s “50 Women of Influence” and the Executive Women of New Jersey’s “Salute to Policy Makers.”
