21 Day safari across Africa by Private Executive Jet - Kenya, Southern Tanzania, Rwanda, Botswana, Zambia and South Africa

We are delighted to release a completely new private jet big 5 safari. This safari was conceived through the request of a client who was emphatic about seeing the big five with the finest wildlife experience possible in Africa and to cover as much of Africa in as short a time as possible.

The safari experience we have tailored, perfectly matches all these requisites. It is entirely different from our previous private jet safaris, which specialise in hard-to-access off the beaten path regions such as Chad, the Republic of Congo, Rwanda etc.

It is for those who want to explore Africa in absolute privacy. It is the perfect social distancing safari – with all transfers being private – from all charter flights to and from each destination, to all game viewing and transfers to and from airports or landing strips.

All the accommodation is private, too, with luxury, private mobile tented camps, to villas.  Stringent guidelines have been adopted by each place in line with WHO recommendations, for both staff and their clientele.

Where does this safari by Private Jet travel to?

Our fabulous safari is for 21 days (but we can shorten this accordingly to suit each client’s requirements).

The safari covers:

  • Visiting a giraffe and elephant sanctuary in Kenya
  • Then the Masai Mara (hopefully to see the migration) and the Chyulu Hills region in Kenya
  • Followed by southern Tanzania and Ruaha National Park.
  • Then, Gorilla trekking in the Virunga mountains in Rwanda
  • And then, Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe. Rwanda
  • Next comes the Okavango Delta, Botswana
  • With Victoria Falls, Zambia
  • And finally, Thornybush Game Reserve, South Africa

The Explorations Company, where no two journeys have ever been the same

One starts off by flying to Nairobi, Kenya. Kenya Airways have a direct flight via New York and BA have a direct flight from London.

1 night Giraffe Manor, Nairobi. This is a fabulous, atmospheric family home turned hotel. They even boast furniture from Karen Blixen. Get up close and personal with their habituated Rothschild giraffe and feed them at breakfast!  Whilst here, visit the Sheldrick Elephant orphanage which is one of the most worthwhile charities and serves to tackle the problem with poaching and looks after the orphaned elephants, with a view to releasing them back into the wild as a family herd after a few years.

Fly to the Masai Mara. - 3 nights Private luxury mobile tented camp erected for the party in the Masai Mara, undoubtedly the finest wildlife reserve on the African continent! Whilst here, you will have the opportunity to visit an elephant project and understand the amazing work they are doing in the Masai Mara, against poaching. The Masai Mara is particularly good for its predators, such as lion, cheetah and leopard.

Fly to the Chyulu Hills - Spend 2 nights at Ol Donyo Lodge, Chyulu Hills. Here one can walk, game view by vehicle and on horseback and bicycle.  See local villagers and have a chance to visit the fabulous Big Life Foundation with their incredible anti-poaching regime. This region is renowned for the largest tusker elephants.

Fly to Ruaha, southern Tanzania - 3 nights Ruaha, private mobile camp. This is a wonderful lodge in some of the most breath taking scenery. This is the largest national park in Tanzania, with only a handful of lodges, yet it has 10% of the entire lion population in Africa, which means that here kills can be witnessed more frequently than in other reserves or parks. One can choose to game view on by vehicle, with one of Tanzania’s finest walking guides. This area is best known for its wild dog population as well as its other predators.

Fly to Rwanda - Here you have the chance to visit mountain gorillas on 2 separate treks! 2 nights will be spent at the beautiful Singita Kwitondo and 2 gorilla trek permits over two days will allow you to get close to the mountain gorilla, where you will have up to an hour to spend with these extraordinary creatures.

Fly by helicopter to Nyungwe - 2 nights will be spent at One and Only Nyungwe – where you have the best opportunity to go chimpanzee trekking in the wild. This is an amazing experience and truly fascinating to be able to compare it with your previous primate experience with the gorillas! Another beautiful lodge which sits on a tea estate, surrounded by mountains. There is fabulous walking here.

Fly south to Botswana - Where you will spend 3 nights in the Okavango Delta, at an exclusive use camp, Little Mombo. Located on Chief’s Island this region not only offers the best opportunity to see rhino, but also it has fabulous predators, including wild dog, leopard and lion and fabulous buffalo too. The Okavango Delta is a real jewel in Botswana’s crown. Not only is this an utterly stunning area, but the wildlife is second to none in southern Africa. Have the opportunity to go on a night game drive, searching for nocturnal species.

Fly to Victoria Falls - 1 night Livingstone (Royal Livingstone suites or Tangala House). Simply spend the day seeing Victoria Falls and doing something completely non-safari. Visit the markets and a school.

Fly to South Africa - 3 nights Royal Malewane in the Africa House, South Africa. Whilst in the region, we will arrange a very special experience – to try and collar a lion. Days will be spent game viewing by vehicle in this amazing big 5 area.

For those who enjoy art, we recommend having a night in Johannesburg so we can take you around its vibrant art and culture scene, staying at one of our favourite boutique hotels.

Fly back to Johannesburg for your flight to New York (or private jet to the US/Europe).

What other highlight features are there on the Private Jet tour?

Spending time with the top wildlife researchers, understanding the challenges they face and the successes they achieve on a daily basis. We will try and get you involved in a lion collaring and an elephant collaring if possible. There will be communities you will visit. Your trip will be contributing enormously to these various charitable projects which you can witness first-hand. This transforms this safari to a once-in-a lifetime conservation inspired safari where there is a direct contribution.

What type of aircraft will I be flying in inter country?

Depending upon group size, it can be anything from a Lear to a Citation or something of similar ilk. Internal flights where the airstrips cannot accommodate these aircraft will be in a Cessna Grand Caravan or a PC12.

What sort of accommodation will I be staying in?

We have used the very best accommodation in each country, all will be completely private. Starting from Private mobile tented camps erected purely for your party, to private villas and camps throughout.

Who will be my guide?

We have a truly fabulous guide, Albie, who is a professional wildlife photographer and consummate guide. Not only will he teach you photographic skills, but he can also document your holiday for you with his own images of your family and your sightings. Finally, as a guide, he is incredible and he is also excellent with children, having his own!

What is the price?

It is difficult to give an exact price as it depends upon number of people, aircraft type given the numbers, etc. However, as a guide, one is looking at approximately from $130.000 per person for 21 days, with private jets for all inter country travel, and private charters elsewhere in country, all private transfers, all private accommodation * (with the option to stay at a five star resort overlooking the Victoria Falls in a suite, should one prefer), a private professional  wildlife photographer and guide. All meals and drinks are included, as well as all activities.

This is based on a party of six travelling together.

When is the best time to travel on this Private Jet Safari?

Any time from June through to October. The wildebeest migration occurs in the Masai Mara in Kenya between July and September. Having said that, wildlife is good in the Masai Mara year round. November can be an excellent time too, but it does get very hot, so it depends upon how one responds to heat. There are many caveats. You can essentially travel at any time (with the exception of April and May in East Africa) and January and February in southern Africa which represent their wettest months.

Can I make changes to this trip?

Absolutely! This is simply a guide to a fabulous trip we operated for one of our clients and a demonstration of how one can travel whilst social distancing all along the way. We can make any amount of changes, regarding your own proclivities and taste, your interests and hobbies as well as time spent away. Ultimately, we can tailor each trip around you.
