August

August is a wonderful month to take the family to Kenya. Combine rhino conservation and a camel-supported walking safari in northern Kenya with a mobile safari in the Masai Mara tracking the Great Migration for an adventure you’ll never forget, before snorkeling the shimmering coral reefs of the Indian Ocean.

With western Indonesia at its best from May to September, the school summer holidays are a perfect time to take the family. Explore Bali’s mesmerising culture together before throwing off the bowlines for a private cruise through the Komodo archipelago, stopping off to snorkel pristine reefs and search for dragons.

August is Mozambique’s dry season, and the perfect time for an adventurous bush and beach safari. Begin in Gorongosa National Park, one of Africa’s great conservation success stories, then head to the Bazaruto Islands for scuba diving, whale-watching and dhow trips in the Indian Ocean’s warm waters.  

Northern & Eastern Sri Lanka are at their best in the northern hemisphere summer with dry weather perfect for visiting the Cultural Triangle, Wilpattu and Minneriya National Parks and the East Coast beaches. Visit extraordinary sacred temples in Dambulla and Sigiriya, track vast elephant herds, and relax by the Indian Ocean.

While not necessarily an obvious time to go, the Maldives in August enjoy lower rainfall and more sunshine than December, the traditional time to visit. Take advantage of lower rates and enjoy its white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and incredible marine life without the crowds.
