San Ignacio in the heart of the Cayo District is located between the Macal and Mopan Rivers, with a fascinating assortment of Maya, Garifuna, Asian and Mennonite influences.
Try bird-watching, caving, hiking and horseback riding from a beautiful wilderness lodge and explore Mayan treasures such as Cahal Pech, Caracol or Xunantunich. Venture into deep forest in protected reserves such as Chiquibal, a good opportunity to spot rare mammals such as ocelot, Baird’s tapir, river otters and even perhaps jaguar here.
Or head to the cool slopes of the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve, a landscape of rolling pine forest spread over smooth granite hillsides and dotted with waterfalls, caves and pools, perfect for hiking and bird-watching.
‘Greetings. this has turned out to be a paradise in so many ways....so a big thank you from us.
Wonderful support from your company over here....we were met at the airport (with flowers!!!!!) and introduced to our personal guide who is fabulous. Can't get over the attention to detail ....cool flannels, chilled water, fresh juice on arrival, bag full of thoughtful goodies for our trip, wonderful rooms with bathrooms bigger than our bedroom at home(!) and we were upgraded to a suite and as I write we are listening to tropical birdsong as we look out over the lagoon from our balcony. Wow!!!!!
I could go on but I'll spare you.
Thanks a million
Judy and Mike’
