Oaxaca City is lined with narrow streets and colonial buildings, and there is a vibrant art and music scene here as well as some of the best handicrafts in the country, which you can bargain for at its innumerable markets and tiny boutiques. Although found all over Mexico, it is likely to be here that you may try chocolate as a savoury dish – mole sauce, made with numerous varieties of chilli and bitter unsweetened chocolate, has a deep smoky flavour and is delicious served with chicken, corn tortillas and fresh salsa. In July the town also comes to life with music and dance during the Guelaguetza Festival, also celebrated in nearby traditional villages, which is a feast of indigenous dances and classic folk tales.
‘Greetings. this has turned out to be a paradise in so many ways....so a big thank you from us.
Wonderful support from your company over here....we were met at the airport (with flowers!!!!!) and introduced to our personal guide who is fabulous. Can't get over the attention to detail ....cool flannels, chilled water, fresh juice on arrival, bag full of thoughtful goodies for our trip, wonderful rooms with bathrooms bigger than our bedroom at home(!) and we were upgraded to a suite and as I write we are listening to tropical birdsong as we look out over the lagoon from our balcony. Wow!!!!!
I could go on but I'll spare you.
Thanks a million
Judy and Mike’
