With extensive knowledge of this forgotten province, we’ll take you from the spectacular beauty of Ba Be Lakes to the breathtaking Ban Gioc waterfall. The picturesque excursion will be interspersed with invigorating walks and visits to remote caves and villages.

       

      Accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, begin your journey at Ba Be National Park, home to the largest natural lake in Vietnam and an abundance of soaring limestone pinnacles, winding rivers, dramatic waterfalls and valleys. The lake is teeming with over a hundred different species of freshwater fish, and you may find residents from the thirteen local villages fishing here. Breathe in the fresh early morning air and take in the staggering views of the mountains shrouded in mist that disperses to reveal the area’s otherworldly beauty. Take a scenic hike through the lush green forest and visit the picturesque local tribal villages, such as the Tay village of Coc Toc, for a warm welcome from the oldest minority group in the country.       Explore the National Park further with a motorboat cruise along the misty lake. Spend time strolling along Sông Bằng River after browsing the bustling centre of Cao Bằng where you’ll stay for the night.

      Follow the route of Quay Son River through the breathtaking scenery sprinkled with distinctive limestone karsts and enter one of the country’s most beautiful valleys at Phong Nam. Far from the beaten path, this is an idyllic destination where you’ll become immersed in village life in the mountains, spotting buffaloes, donkeys and farmers working the rice fields. The landscape changes dramatically as the Quay Son River reaches the majestic Ban Gioc waterfall. With its 300 metre-wide limestone ledge, the river forms a natural border between Vietnam and China and offers a captivating sight.

      Venture to Ban Gioc Falls and gaze in awe at one of Vietnam’s most spectacular sights.

      You’ll have plenty of opportunity to discover the falls with your guide, ideally at first light for the best possible experience. Nearby you’ll discover the Nguom Ngao (Tiger) Cave system which is renowned for being the most beautiful cave in Vietnam. Head back towards Cao Bang township via the hidden valley of Tuyet Tinh Coc, a land where seemingly time stands still, filled with dense jungle, rice fields and small villages. Marvel at the sight of Nui Thung Mountain surrounded by large plains and lakes en route to Thang Hen Lake, a shimmering emerald natural wonder. Regarded as one of the most picturesque regions in the country, you’ll have time to explore either on a local trail walk or while visiting nearby villages before returning via Cao Bang to Hanoi.
